MANILA Nov. 5. 2013 - A very powerful typhoon is set to enter the Philippines later this week and may affect areas hit by the magnitude 7.2 earthquake in the Visayas, according to international meteorologists. Meteorologist Eric Leicester of accuweather.com said: “The most likely scenario is that Haiyan will be a very powerful typhoon with wind gusts over 125 mph as it approaches the central Philippines.” “The expected track of Haiyan will take it directly over the areas hardest hit by a powerful 7.1 magnitude that killed more than 150 people in the middle of October,” he said.Bohol and Cebu were the hardest hit by the powerful earthquake, which had already claimed the lives of more than 200 persons. “Rain and increasing wind will reach the central Philippines Friday afternoon and conditions will deteriorate from east to west Friday night into early Saturday as the powerful typhoon crosses the islands,” Leicester said. The same track was provided by the United States Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command. “Haiyan will only weaken slightly as it crosses the Philippines causing damaging winds, flooding rainfall and bringing the threat for deadly mudslides,” Leicester said. “Emerging into the South China Sea later Saturday, Haiyan will remain a dangerous cyclone as it continues to move to the west-northwest,” he added. It will move towards Vietnam late Sunday or Monday, he added.
Dieser Typhoon betrifft leider auch uns. Wir haben uns mit "NatHape" ins Typhoon-Hole "Bonbonon" verlegt und glauben, dass dies der sicherste Ort für diese Art von Stürmen ist. Der Typhoon wird im Verlauf vom Freitag, den 8. November über uns ziehen.

Zur Zeit ist alles ruhig an unserem Ankerplatz. Ungefähr 15 Kn. Wind während des Tages und am Abend hatte auch die leichte Brise ihren "Feiertag". Die Bucht füllt sich langsam mit Booten von Einheimischen. Sie stellen ihre Schiffe bei Flut praktisch auf den Strand und befestigen sie mit Seilen an den Bäumen. Die Bojen sind alle besetzt. Einige sollen gut und andere weniger gut sein. Zwei oder drei Schiffe ankern dort, wo unser Anker keinen Halt fand.
Das Leben besteht nicht nur aus Stürmen :-)), darum zwischen durch etwas anderes: Am Samstag fuhren wir in die südlichen Berge von Negros. Dazu mietet man ein Motorrad. Leider sind hier nur die Modelle erhältlich, welche mit dem Fuss geschaltet werden müssen. Somit war der Fahrer klar bestimmt, meine Frau, denn "richtige Männer fahren nur Automatik" ...

Wir haben alle Vorkehrungen betreffend dem Typhoon angeschlossen, aber sehr viel gibt es auf unserem Schiff wirklich nicht zu machen. Es geht vielleicht mehr darum, dass man ein wenig beschäftigt ist und zu sich selbst sagen kann, alle Vorsichtsmassnahmen getroffen zu haben. Da ist nur eine zentrale Frage: hält die Boje oder hält sie nicht?. Wenn sie nicht hält, dann ist das Desaster da. Bei so hohen Winden, vermischt mit extremen Regen, mitten in der Nacht, da stehen die Chancen gleich Null, etwas retten zu können. Also hoffen wir, dass die Boje stark genug ist und die der anderen Schiffe ebenfalls. Nachfolgen die neuesten Wettervorhersage zum Typhoon:

HAIYAN (YOLANDA) remains an Extremely Catastrophic Super Typhoon and is considered as the Strongest Tropical Cyclone in the World this year ... continues to endanger Leyte and Samar Provinces..as well as the whole of Central and Northwestern Visayas. The potential landfall area of this super typhoon is likely along the eastern coast of Northern Leyte on or before noontime Friday, November 08. Important Note: This typhoon is similar in track but more powerful in strength of Super Typhoon MIKE (RUPING) which passed across the Visayas on November 12, 1990 which devastated much of Central Visayas paricularly Cebu. Residents living along the eastern seaboards of the Philippines from Northern Quezon...Bicol Region...down to Northeastern Mindanao should continue monitoring the approach of this destructive typhoon for possible unprecendented track changes. Plans for emergency situations and/or disaster management planning must be completed as soon as possible as the dangerous cyclone is only 1 day away from hitting land.

Es ist der weit und breit beste Platz für uns und die "NatHape" in dieser stürmischen Zeit. Unser Grundsatz, bis Mitte Dezember die grüne Linie Palawan-Cebu nicht nach Norden zu überschreiten, hat sich jetzt als Glück erwiesen. In den Philippinen treten Typhoons das ganze Jahr über auf, aber in ersten drei Monaten des Jahres sind sie selten anzutreffen.
CURRENT STORM ANALYSIS
As of 11:00 am today, the eye of STY Haiyan was located over the South Philippine Sea ... about 785 km southeast of Tacloban City, Leyte or 880 km east-southeast of Metro Cebu ... currently moving very quickly west-northwest with a forward speed of 37 km/hr towards Leyte and Southern Samar Area. Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) are at 280 km/hr near the center with higher gusts. Typhoon Force Winds (118 km/hr or more) extend outward up to 85 kilometers from the center...and Tropical Storm Force Winds (63-117 km/hr) extend outward up to 230 kilometers from the center. STY Haiyan remains a small-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 555 kilometers across.

Nov. 2013 - Super Typhoon Haiyan (local name Yolanda) is bringing a significant risk to lives and property as the monster storm moves across the Philippines.On Friday, local time, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center estimated that sustained winds with this exceptionally dangerous storm increased to 315 kph (195 mph), surpassing the winds of Super Typhoon Lekima, which was previously the strongest tropical system in the world for the 2013 season based on wind speed and central pressure. Update at 2:15 p.m. ET: Winds Strengthen Further Haiyan's maximum sustained winds have grown to 170 knots (196 mph), according to the just-released update from the U.S. in Hawaii. Wind gusts are being measured at more than 230 mph.
8. November, 10h: Haiyan smashed the into central island the island of Samar, about 600 kilometres southeast of Manila and was travelling quickly northwest, state meteorologist Romeo Cajulis told AFP.President Benigno Aquino had on Thursday warned his countrymen to make all possible preparations for Haiyan, which was packing monster wind gusts of nearly 380 kilometres (235 miles) an hour as it approached the Philippines.
8. November 14h: ENTWARNUNG, wenigstens für uns im Süden von Negros, in der Bucht von Bonbonon. Der Sturm ist weiter gezogen. Bei uns windete es rund zwei Stunden lang mit durchschnittlich 20 Kn, bei Böen vielleicht bis zu 30 Kn. Diese Windgeschwindigkeiten sind für uns eigentlich gutes Segelwetter. Nach all den Meldungen und Warnungen konnten wir fast nicht glauben, dass der "Spuck" für uns so schnell vorüber war. Glück gehabt, denn offensichtlich war dies nicht überall der Fall:

Super Typhoon Haiyan, Strongest of Season, Slams the Philippines. The strongest typhoon this year, estimated to be one of the strongest in history, slammed into the central Philippines on Friday. The powerful cyclone set off landslides and knocked out power and communication lines in several provinces. At least four people died.Due to cut-off communication, it was impossible to know the extent of casualties and damage.
